Adding Transitions to my Music Video

Taking on the feedback and advice from my teacher and my target audience, I have added transitions into my music video, using transitions that relate to the clip it is about to introduce.

First, I added a swipe transition to every clip which introduced all three of my actors singing the chorus together.

Then I added a heart transition to introduce clips of the three of my actors dancing. I used a heart because the lyrics of the song are all about happiness, and hearts can connote love, and love is a common cause of happiness.

I added a circle transition to introduce clips of any of the actors playing with balloons  This transition links directly to the thing it is introducing, because balloons are circular.

For transitions between two clips which both feature my actor Jess alone, I used a dissolve effect.

For transitions between two clips which featured my actor Claire L alone, I used a shatter effect.

For transitions between two clips of my actor Claire H, I used a 'split vertical' effect.

By using the same effect to introduce the same sort of clips, this helps the audience to know what is coming next. For example, when they are watching the music video, and they see a swipe transition, they will know that a clip of the three actors singing the chorus together will be coming next.

During Kelly Rowland's verse of the song, there is a moment where the structure of singing is slightly different from the rest of the song, however, in that part it is very consistent in itself. I decided to add a 'contemporary slide' transition, because I thought that it linked these few clips together very well.
